Choreography Nite is an annual event by Gigi Art of Dance that was created in order to promote choreography making spirit within Gigi Art of Dance students, allowing students a special opportunity to create and express their concepts through dance, programmed through mentorship and training to ensure growth for their choreographic skills. As the program grew, Choreonite attracted more attention and interest and in 2018 was held for the first time to public participants.
Choreonite has been designed as a platform for learning first and foremost, focusing on allowing participants of any level to experience, experiment, and express through choreography. A lot of previous participants join Choreonite for their first time choreographing and the program is designed to be accessible at any age or level of training.
By joining Choreonite, participants will be given tools and techniques in creating choreography that is usually reserved in syllabi of higher educational settings through a casual and safe approach, given by a highly qualified mentor. Thus, Choreonite encourages more experimental and innovative approaches and creation while consistently applying the high standards required of a dance competition.
Choreonite Vol. 8 is specifically designed to involve the idea of environmental consciousness into the participant’s conceptual process, through the theme of UPCYCLING. Upcycling is the idea of elevating the value of a used or unwanted idea or object into new materials or products of better quality and environmental value. This general starting idea of utilizing previous material that has been used before and creating something better from it will be the base of all choreographies in the competition. This will help promote environmental awareness through a level of engagement only found in Choreonite Vol. 8.
The competition will be separated into two categories, Solo and Group. The Solo category will be separated into Kids (6-12 y.o.) and Adult (13 and above) and limited to Gigi Art of Dance students, while the Group category will be open for public with no age restrictions. Participants for the Solo category will also receive 1 session of mentoring, while participants in the Group category will receive 4 sessions of mentoring, to ensure that the choreography can be developed into its best form!

SOLO CATEGORY:
Requirements:
- Open for Gigi Art of Dance’s students only.
- Open for any style of performance.
- Must use own choreography (no freestyle/ no cover/ no hired choreographer allowed).
- Duration is between 1 – 1.5 minutes.
- Music does not contain vulgar/curse words.
- Only handheld properties are allowed.
- No confetti and any inflammable materials are allowed to be used on stage.
Categories:
- Kids: age 6-12 y.o.
- Adult: age 13 & above
Fee: 150.000 IDR
(includes performance fee, meal during show, and 1 mentoring session)
Prize:
- 1st Prize: 1.000.000 IDR total worth of prizes and 3 months free classes.
- 2nd Prize: 500.000 IDR total worth of prizes and 1 month free classes.
Mentoring:
- 1 session focused on creative movement and techniques possible to enhance the choreography in incorporating the theme and personal concepts.

GROUP CATEGORY
Requirements: 
- Open for public.
- Open for any style of performance.
- Must use own choreography (no freestyle/ no cover/ no hired choreographer allowed).
- Duration is between 2-3 minutes.
- Involves minimum 2 and maximum 10 dancers.
- Music does not contain vulgar/curse words.
- Costume appropriate for the concept and age.
- Only handheld properties are allowed.
- No confetti and any inflammable materials are allowed to be used on stage.
Fee: 400.000 IDR for choreographer, 100.000 IDR for dancers.
(includes performance fee, meal during show, and 4 mentoring sessions, if dancer is joining the medley, only)
Prizes:
- Best Choreography: A fully-funded trip to SG for a special training session with SG’s best coaches and teachers worth 5.000.000 IDR, 12 months free classes in Gigi Art of Dance.
- Best Concept: 3.000.000 IDR total worth of prizes, with 6 months free classes in Gigi Art of Dance.
- Best Costume: 2.000.000 IDR total worth of prizes, with 3 months free classes in Gigi Art of Dance.

Mentoring:
- 4 sessions covering basic choreographing techniques, conceptual development, personal tutoring, and overall enhancement under miss Gianti Giadi during Nov-Dec 2019.

- Gigi Art of Dance is not responsible for the copyright infringement of the presented choreography.
- The judges decision is final and non-disputable.
- No contact with judges regarding the participation in Choreonite Vol. 8 before the competition is allowed, if found participant will be immediately disqualified.
