Gigi Art of Dance in collaboration with Teater Musikal Nusantara is presenting a special Broadway Virtual Course for all ages. Presented by the two leading actresses from their recent successful run of Hairspray The Musical, Venytha Yoshiantini (Tracy) and Putri Indam Kamila (Penny), the course will delve deep into the songs and dances, utilizing specific vocal techniques necessary for the play and character analysis of the script to offer a more thorough and in-depth learning experience of the highly popular Broadway musical! The course will end with a final virtual video performance of the songs and dances learned throughout the course!

Hairspray is a Tony award-winning musical set in 1960s Baltimore following the adventure of a girl named Tracy Turnblad as she pursues her dream to be a part of the popular TV show, The Corny Collins Show. Venytha, who played Tracy in TEMAN’s 2019 production, is the Artistic Director of TEMAN who holds a BA(First Class Honours) in Musical Theatre, from LASALLE College of The Arts, and a Diploma in Theatre with distinction from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. When not performing herself, Venytha travels around the world as a professional dance, acting and vocal coach and has taught and worked in different sets and productions including RENT (Pangdemonium), Playtime! (Esplanade), People (ITheatre), Pursuant (Singapore Lyrics Opera) and Dang Anum (Bangsawan). Tracy’s best friend, Penny, was played in TEMAN’s 2019 musical by Putri, an actress, dancer, singer who graduated with First Class Honours in BA (Hons) Musical Theatre from LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore and an alumni of Gigi Art of Dance as well. She is one of the chosen thirteen young actors who was awarded a scholarship from www.indonesiakaya.com who received Musical Theatre Intensive training from Passport to Broadway in NYC and Jakarta in 2019. She has worked with renowned directors from USA, Singapore, Australia and UK including: Brandon Bieber, Kaye Tuckerman, Nikki Snelson, George Torbay, Tony McGill, Tony Knight, and Amy Weinstein.

The course will be available in three different classes:

Broadway Kids (13 and under, every Tuesdays 5-6pm): 400k per month – Starting 28th April 2020
Broadway Teen (13-17, every Tuesdays 6-7pm): 400k per month – Starting 28th April 2020
Broadway Adult (17 and up, every Thursdays 8-9:30pm): 450 per month – Starting 24th April 2020
